Tiny Rosö – Off-Grid Adventure on Your Own Island in Lake Allgunnen, Småland
Welcome to Tiny Rosö – a simple off-grid cabin on your own island in the middle of Lake Allgunnen in Småland. This accommodation has very little in common with a traditional holiday home. It is not about luxury or extensive amenities, but about nature, freedom, adventure and the extraordinary experience of spending a few...Read more days on your own Swedish island.
The cabin is located on an approximately 3-hectare island in Lake Allgunnen. During your stay, the entire island is yours. No neighbours, no other holiday guests and no traffic – just you, the forest and the lake.
Lake Allgunnen is a large lake characterised by numerous islands, secluded bays and forested shores. Much of the surrounding area is protected nature and known for its old forests and rich biodiversity.
Tiny Rosö is designed for adventurers, anglers and nature lovers who want to experience Sweden in a simple and authentic way.
The Adventure Begins Before You Arrive
Getting to the island is already part of the experience.
An approximately 10-kilometre gravel road takes you deep into nature to a remote parking area. This is where your journey by car ends.
Up to two canoes will be waiting for you. From here, you must paddle approximately 1 kilometre across Lake Allgunnen to the island on your own. Depending on the weather and conditions on the lake, the crossing takes around 15 minutes.
There is no road or bridge to the accommodation. Your luggage, food and everything else you need during your stay must be transported to the island by canoe.
Once you arrive, you can leave everyday life behind on the opposite shore.
20 m² – Reduced to the Essentials
The small cabin measures only 20 m² and is deliberately kept very simple. Above all, it provides a safe, dry and sheltered place to sleep surrounded by nature.
Two bunk beds provide sleeping space for up to four guests, and there is also a small dining table.
There is no connection to the public electricity grid. A solar system provides a limited amount of electricity, and a refrigerator is available. As the electricity is generated by solar power, the amount of energy available can depend on weather conditions.
Cooking is done on a gas stove. There is no running water. Instead, a water filter is provided so that water from the lake can be filtered. A dry separating toilet is available instead of a conventional bathroom.
This is genuine off-grid living: simple, rustic and deliberately reduced to the essentials.
Your Own 3-Hectare Island
The real highlight of Tiny Rosö is not the cabin – it is the island itself.
Around 3 hectares of nature are yours to enjoy during your stay. Explore the island, wander through the forest, find your favourite spot by the water or simply enjoy the exceptional peace and seclusion.
Next to the cabin is a covered terrace, allowing you to sit outside even when the Swedish weather is changeable. A barbecue and fire pit are perfect for long evenings outdoors.
When the sun sets over Lake Allgunnen and all you can see around you is forest and water, you discover the real luxury of this place: peace, freedom and nature.
Canoeing, Fishing & Nature on Lake Allgunnen
With its islands, bays and forested shores, Lake Allgunnen is ideal for canoe trips and exploring. You can set off directly from your island and discover the lake at your own pace.
Tiny Rosö is also particularly attractive for anglers. Lake Allgunnen is home to fish including pike, zander and perch. Please note that a valid fishing permit is required and is not included with the accommodation.
The area surrounding Lake Allgunnen is known for its rich biodiversity, making it a wonderful destination for guests who want to experience the forests, water and wildlife of Småland.
Important: You Are on Your Own on the Island
Before booking, every guest should understand exactly what this stay involves:
Tiny Rosö is a genuine nature and off-grid adventure – not a conventional holiday home.
During your stay, you will be largely on your own on the island. Your stay is at your own risk.
The island can only be reached across the lake. Wind and weather can affect conditions on Lake Allgunnen and therefore the crossing. Guests must be capable of paddling the route independently and safely.
If you expect a shower, unlimited electricity, running water or the comfort of a traditional holiday home, this is not the right accommodation for you.
But if you are happy to give up some comfort in exchange for the experience of having your own island surrounded by Swedish nature, Tiny Rosö offers something truly special.
Dogs Are Welcome
Up to two dogs are welcome to join your island adventure.
Please remember that your dogs, luggage and supplies must also be transported to and from the island by canoe. The applicable rules for protecting the surrounding nature and wildlife must be respected.
Important Information
Tiny Rosö is available exclusively from May to September and accommodates a maximum of four guests.
Bed linen is included, and final cleaning of the cabin is already included in the total price.
Up to two dogs are welcome. A security deposit of €200 is required.
No Luxury. No Power Grid. No Neighbours.
Tiny Rosö is not for everyone – and that is exactly what makes it special.
You paddle to your own island by canoe, filter your own water, cook over fire, explore Lake Allgunnen, go fishing, spend your evenings around the fire and finally sleep in a small cabin surrounded by nature.
In return, you get something that is extraordinary even in Sweden:
An approximately 3-hectare island in the middle of Lake Allgunnen, all to yourselves.
Tiny Rosö is not a conventional holiday-home experience. It is a genuine off-grid adventure in Småland – for anglers, nature lovers and adventurers who truly want to escape everyday life for a few days.Read less
