The holiday home or property is located directly beside the water. Ideal if you want to spend plenty of time by the lake and prefer the shortest possible walk to the water.
Private or dedicated jetty
A jetty is especially convenient for swimming, fishing, getting into a boat or simply enjoying a quiet moment right beside the water.
Swimming spot & shoreline
A lakefront location does not automatically mean a sandy beach. The shoreline may be shallow, rocky, natural or accessible mainly via a jetty.
Lake view or close to the lake
Some holiday homes offer beautiful views across the water or are only a short walk from the lake, but do not necessarily have their own direct access to the shoreline.

1. Is a holiday home by the lake always directly on the water?
No. The term “by the lake” can describe different locations. Some of our holiday homes are situated directly beside the water, while others are only a short walk from the nearest lake.
We therefore try to state as clearly as possible how far the water is from the property and whether there is direct lake access, a jetty or a swimming spot.
2. Are there holiday homes in Sweden with a private jetty?
Yes. Some of our holiday homes in Sweden have their own private or dedicated jetty directly by the lake. Depending on the property, it may be used for swimming, fishing or getting into a boat.
The individual property description tells you whether the jetty belongs exclusively to the holiday home or is shared.
3. Is a boat included with a holiday home by the lake?
At many properties, yes – but not automatically. Selected holiday homes include a rowing boat, canoe, pedal boat or SUP at no extra charge.
At other properties, a motorboat may be available to rent. You will find the exact equipment and any additional costs in the description of each holiday home.
4. Can I swim in the lake directly by the holiday home?
At many holiday homes, swimming directly by the property is possible. However, how easy the access is depends on the shoreline. There may be a jetty, shallow entrance, rocks or a natural shoreline.
Especially when travelling with young children, we recommend checking not only the distance to the lake but also the actual type of water access.
5. Can I fish in the lake – do I need a fishing permit?
That depends on the lake. Many Swedish inland waters have their own fishing rights, and a fishing permit – known in Swedish as a Fiskekort – is often required.
Always check the rules for the specific lake before fishing. Catch limits, protected species, closed seasons and permitted fishing methods can vary between different waters.
